What does "EGRROLS" mean?

It stands for the "Elsie G. Robertson Raptors Outdoor Learning Spaces" - the committee came up with it in the hopes of it being a catchy acronym during the proposal process to garner interest in the project!

Fun Fact: Elsie G. Robertson is the official name of the school, and was so named after the long-time principal as of 1974. The former name was "Nausauket School."

What is the timeline for these phases?

The timeline is variable depending on the Phase. It is the hope of the committee to have:

How much grant money did Robertson receive?

The Green Team successfully requested and received the full grant amount of $100,000!

Who is in charge of construction?

The State of RI will be assessing the area and recommending contractors for the scope of work to help ease the burden on the Warwick Public Schools Maintenance and Building & Grounds Departments.

It is the hope of the Green Team that Community Partners will assist them with clearing the spaces and pathways, installing bug hotels or bird houses, and helping to maintain the areas once built, so that the Robertson Community can use it freely for years to come!

What materials will be used in construction?

The Green Team worked tirelessly to source cost effective, weather resistant, fire resistant, recycled, and sustainable products for the different zones. For many zones like the Pine Forest and Sensory Garden, natural products will be used; logs, stone slabs, concrete-faux stone, etc. For the built up areas like the Nature Classroom, recycled composite materials, steel cables, and concrete or macadam/asphalt pathways are planned.

Who can use the space?

Since the Outdoor Learning Spaces are for all members of the community in partnership with the school, the space will be available for use by any individuals or groups outside of normal school hours.

Interested groups may also fill out the Google Form below to request the space; please note that space is not guaranteed.
